Chicken Kosha is a delicious and easy recipe in Bengali cuisine which is prepared with chicken and spices.



Off On


  1. At first, wash the chicken pieces thoroughly and keep dry.

  2. Then marinate with 1 tsp salt and ΒΌ tsp turmeric powder. keep aside for 30 min.

  3. Now chop onion and tomato into small pieces.

  4. Then make a smooth paste with onion, ginger, garlic, dry red chilies and keep aside for later use.

Making Chicken Kosha

  1. Now heat 5 tbsp oil in a deep pan. Then add bay leaf, cinnamon, cardamom, cloves and black pepper.

  2. When the spice masala splutters, add ginger-garlic-dry red chili paste and fry for 2 min.

  3. Then add salt, turmeric powder, cumin powder, coriander powder, red chili powder and garam masala powder. Cook for another 2 min.

  4. Now add little water and mix well.

  5. Then add chopped tomato and cook until it becomes tender.

  6. When masala separates from the oil, add chicken pieces and mix well with the masala.

  7. Then cover the pan with a lid and cook for 15-20 min on the low flame. Flip the chicken pieces every 5 min.

  8. Now Chicken Kosha is ready to serve and serve with hot rice or plain tawa roti of your choice. Enjoy!
